Sababu ya kwa nini video za P - square hazichezwi na kituo cha Soundcity Tv

Soundcity TV ni kituo kikubwa cha burudani nchini Nigeria, kinacho-promote kazi za Wanigeria pamoja na wasanii mbalimbali wa Afrika ikiwa ni pamoja na Tanzania,kasoro za mapacha wa P-Square.

Huwa inajitokeza kwa vituo mbalimbali vya Radio au Tv hata hapa kwetu, wanapotofautiana vitu fulani na msanii kazi zake hufungiwa kuchezwa na kituo husika.

Ndivyo ilivyotokea kwa kundi la P-Square baada ya kutofautiana na Soundcity, kituo hicho kiliacha kucheza kazi zao toka mwanzoni mwa mwaka huu, na wametoa maelezo marefu ya kwanini walichukua uamuzi huo.

Kilichofanya Soundcity leo wakaamua kusema kwanini hawaoneshi kazi za P-Square ni kwamba, ilianza baada ya mashabiki wa P-Square kuuliza Twitter kwanini kwa muda mrefu hawazioni video zao zikichezwa na Soundcity Tv hata watazamaji wanapoomba?

Ndipo Peter Okoye alijibu kwa kuandika;

“Mashabiki, tunayaona malalamiko yenu kuhusu kukosekana kwa video zetu kuoneshwa na Soundcity TV, ila kuweka mambo sawa ni kwamba wamegoma kutuonesha.”

Peter aliongeza Tweet nyingine;

“Achaneni na hiyo channel tafadhali na muendelee kututazama kupitia channel zingine kama Trace Tv, MTVBase, Hip Tv, Afro Pop.”

Baada ya Tweet za Peter ndipo Soundcity kupitia website yao waliamua kujibu kwanini hawaoneshi video za P-Sqaure.

Katika maelezo yao wamedai kuwa, kwa miaka 10 wamekuwa waki-support sana kazi za P-Square pamoja na brand yao, kuanzia video yao ya kwanza, na kuongeza kuwa video zao zilipewa muda mwingi wa kuoneshwa kwenye kituo chao kwa upendeleo kuliko kituo kingine chochote Nigeria. Wakaongeza kuwa walikuwa pia wakisafiri na kundi hilo Afrika kwenye ziara zao kwa gahrama zao wenyewe na wamekuwa wakiwapa nafasi ya kurusha matangazo ya show zao n.k.

Sasa malalamiko ya Soundcity ni kuwa licha ya support kubwa waliyowapa P-Square kwa miaka yote hiyo, walikuja kuwaalika kwenye tukio lao moja la mwisho wa mwaka 2014, lakini P-Square walitaka walipwe kiasi fulani cha pesa kitu ambacho walishindwana, na meneja wao Jude Okoye alinukuliwa akiwauliza ni nini kikubwa Soundcity imeifanyia P-Square mpaka wasiwalipe kuwafanyia kazi yao.

Na hiyo ndio ilikuwa sababu kwa kituo hicho kuamua kusitisha kuonesha kazi yoyote ya P-Square kuanzia January 1, 2015.

Hivi ndivyo wameandika Soundcity;

“For 10 Years, @SoundcityTV has been a huge supporter of #PSquare and the #PSquare brand, right from their 1st music video to the last video released in 2014. Most of their videos got massive airplay on @SoundcityTV than any other music channel.

@SoundcityTV viewers sometimes complain about the dominance of #PSquare videos on the channel & charts. We were a huge supporter and gave everything to their works.

We have assisted the #PSquare brand, toured with them over Africa at our expense. Gave them ad-spots for their events / projects. Gave them prime time slots for their videos and included them in our array of Programmes / programming.

We invited #PSquare to one of our annual events last December 2014 and they insisted we pay a certain amount of money. We reasonably asked, what is the least we can offer?; this was us foregoing the fact that we had invested a lot in #PSquare’s career as music talents / artistes & entertainers.

The feedback was, “WHAT HAS SOUNDCITY EVER DONE FOR PSQUARE? TELL ME ONE THING SOUNDCITY HAS EVER DONE FOR PSQUARE” (Jude Okoye, Manager).

While we understand that this is business, there is also room for special consideration. Saying our TV brand has never done anything for #PSquare was quite damning. Clearly, there was no need to argue with their decision and reasoning. We decided to stop ‘doing anything’ with/for #PSquare, since our 10years of supporting the group meant nothing to them. We assumed our relationship was a mutually beneficial one, but clearly one-sided.

Ultimately, #PSquare music videos stopped airing on @SoundcityTV since January 01, 2015. Soundcity reserves the right to air music videos on our cable / satellite or terrestrial platforms.

Overall, we wish the duo the best in their endeavours. @SoundcityTV will keep airing works of the best and upcoming Nigerian artistes, and also, the best #African artistes to the world, especially nurturing their talents from inception till they become huge megastars and international superstars.
